Fumitake Kanemaru
Born in Miyazaki Prefecture in 1981
He started hitchhiking and street performances when he was in high school, and set off on a trip around Japan at the age of 20, visiting all 47 prefectures.
Everyone around me returned home after 4 years and 4 months.
He continued to travel around Japan, and at the age of 30, he set off on a trip around the world with 6,000 yen, a guitar, and a sleeping bag.
Traveled around the world for free, visiting 62 countries on 5 continents over a period of 2 years and 4 months, earning money on the streets of the country.
Achieved. The blog documenting the trip receives over 30,000 hits every day.
After returning to Japan, he published books and CDs.
He met Kang-chan during his travels and set off on his second trip around the world, getting married during the trip.
After returning to Japan, he opened a traditional Japanese restaurant called "Hinataya" in Mimitsu, Miyazaki Prefecture, with the aim of revitalizing rural areas through creativity.
Opened in November 2018.
In July 2020, the long-established inn was renovated and opened as a shared house in an old Japanese style house called "kokage."
Using the experience he gained from his travels, he is working hard every day to find ways to truly revitalize the town.
Nao Kanemaru
Born in Osaka Prefecture in 1982
Her father was a former backpacker, and he took her on trips to many different countries since she was a child.
After graduating from high school, I studied English in the United States for two years. After returning to Japan, I continued to travel abroad whenever I had free time.
She moved to Bali at the age of 25.
She worked as a wedding photographer for two years.
At the age of 31, she quit her job and traveled around Asia for six months, where she met her future husband, Fumi, in Malaysia.
The couple then set off on a world tour and got married in Austria.
After returning to Japan, she moved to her husband's hometown of Miyazaki Prefecture and started cooking delicious food at a restaurant called "Hinataya" in a renovated old house.
